Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar Lift-off Ready
A true artefact of innovation, Cordon Rouge Stellar is the ultimate blend of fine craftsmanship and cutting-edge aerospace collaboration, the first champagne ever designed specifically for space.
The Ax-4 mission of which Mumm is a part of, operated by Axiom Space, will launch from Florida, with American astronaut and biochemical researcher Peggy Whitson as mission commander, joined by a European & Indian crew.

From Earth to Orbit
Honoring 150 years of its iconic cuvée, next September Maison will unveil a glimpse of Mumm Cordon Rouge’s refreshed look, blending tradition with modernity. Mumm Cordon Rouge continues to write a unique, authentic, and timeless story, into the new era of human history that is opening up to us.
Initiated in 2017, this ambitious project now benefits from compliance with space and AOC Champagne specifications to test the ritual in the real space’ conditions.
Bringing this vision to life has required a diverse set of experts and disciplines. Mumm teamed up with:
- Octave de Gaulle, founder of SPADE, a space design agency specialized in crafting products for extraterrestrial environments;
- The CNES (French National Centre for Space Studies);
- Jean-François Clervoy, European Space Agency astronaut and veteran of three NASA space missions.
On March 2025, a decisive milestone was reached: the final test flight aboard a 0-G parabolic mission from Bordeaux, France.
The objective? To conduct the last weightless tasting of this extraordinary cuvée in near-space conditions.
The result? To confirm not only the technical readiness, but of the integrity, flavor, and symbolic richness of Cordon Rouge Stellar, that Mumm aims to bring into orbit.
Cordon Rouge Stellar is a technological feat, a cultural milestone, a human adventure and a source of national pride.
Octave de Gaulle – Founder & CEO of Spade
After years of tests and adjustments, March 27th ushered the final checkpoint before the ultimate mission.

SYMBOL OF CELEBRATION ON EARTH & BEYOND

From prototype to space exploration Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar will be part of an upcoming mission: a symbolic premiere for Champagne.<
An archetype of French culture in orbit Mumm Stellar intends to preserve, beyond the terrestrial context, our culture as well as the memory of a certain terroir, climate, savoir-faire, and tasting ritual – in other words, all the elements that make up champagne. <
Rooted in Champagne On Earth, champagne is often witness to moments of unifying celebration. Beyond being a symbol of sharing, one can image that champagne will represent a symbolic connection to Earth for those who are far from it.<
100% MADE IN FRANCE:
INTRICATE MANUFACTURING & CUTTING-EDGE DESIGN
After nine years of research and development, Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar is fully space-ready, thanks to a collaboration with CNES, marking a milestone in champagne innovation.
Crafting champagne for zero gravity demanded a complete reinvention of the tasting experience. The result: a half-bottle glass encased in stainless steel, inspired by Mumm’s blending vats in Reims, preserving both flavor and heritage while meeting AOC and space safety standards.
This pioneering ritual keeps the spirit of celebration alive, bringing a touch of tradition and elegance to a dimension unbound by gravity.

A champagne elevated for space
Zero gravity challenges the human senses, particularly smell and taste. Maison Mumm’s Cellar Master Yann Munier, refined the blend to ensure the champagne signature’s characteristics endure space conditions without compromise.
We’ve preserved the freshness and power of Mumm Cordon Rouge while enhancing the intensity of the flavors. This was achieved through extended aging and the addition of a dosage liqueur made from wines matured in oak barrels.
The result is a champagne that exemplifies Mumm’s dedication to craftsmanship, excellence, and the celebration of Pinot Noir.
This champagne carries with it the memory of Earth. Its climate, its craft, its traditions.
Yann Munier, Mumm Cellar Master
