Mumm Cordon Rouge: 150th anniversary to celebrate with a fresh look
A breath of fresh air for the iconic Cordon Rouge cuvée: as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2026, Mumm Cordon Rouge reveals a new visual identity. This refined evolution honors its rich heritage while embracing a modern aesthetic, perfectly capturing the unique balance and forward-thinking spirit that has defined the House for over two centuries.

Mumm’s Iconic Red Ribbon:
A Symbol of Excellence & History
Founded in 1827, Maison Mumm boasts a rich history spanning almost 200 years, inspired by its eponymous founder, Georges Hermann Mumm and his bold motto, “Nec plus ultra”; meaning “Only the Best.” This philosophy thrives the legacy of its iconic cuvée and its red ribbon.
In 1876, G.H. Mumm introduced the legendary red ribbon – a silk sash inspired by the prestigious “Légion d’Honneur” distinction, marking a timeless symbol of luxury and prestige. Since 1881, this emblematic ribbon has been expertly woven into the label itself, becoming the unmistakable signature of Mumm champagne worldwide.
From the daring polar expedition led by Commander Charcot in 1904 to the groundbreaking zero-gravity flight set for 2025, this legendary cuvée continues to push boundaries and cement its place at the heart of Maison Mumm’s storied heritage.
Reinventing a classic:
A new design for a legendary cuvée
In 2025, Mumm reinvents its label down to the finest detail, honoring its heritage while boldly asserting a contemporary identity. The iconic red sash (ribbon) now proudly stands out against a creamy background, a inherited color thoughtfully revived from the House’s archives, along with a medallion showcasing the brand’s founding date.
This label features an elegant red half-tie, which is a modern reinterpretation of the silk ribbon created in 1876.
A more stylised version of Mumm’s historic eagle appears in a gold-embossed seal, continuing the Maison’s timeless codes. Also, G.H. Mumm logo’s lettering has been redesigned to capture the House’s unique identity, finished with a glossy embossing that adds a refined touch of sophistication.
“This creative (r)evolution restores a
sense of prestige to Mumm’s iconic
cuvée, underscoring its timeless and
authentic dimension”

A singular expression of Pinot Noir
Produced in the exceptional terroirs of Champagne, Mumm Cordon Rouge highlights the freshness and elegance of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, the cornerstone of Mumm’s style.
After two years of cellar aging in Reims, this champagne reveals an aromatic bouquet rich in yellow & white fruits, complemented by delicate pastry notes. It seduces with its liveliness, freshness, and roundness.
This recognized quality earned Mumm Cordon Rouge the Master Medal awarded by Drinks Business in 2025, confirming its place among the best non-vintage brut champagnes.
Pinot Noir has been associated with Maison Mumm for almost 200 years, particularly Montagne de Reims, which is essential for our blends, lending them the power, elegance and freshness that characterize the House’s style.
