PERFECT FOR SHARING

The origins of the magnum date back to the eighteenth century. Synonymous with wealth and prestige, this grand bottle is often served at the tables of affluent wine enthusiasts looking to impress their guests. Magnum is a Latin word, meaning “great”.

Its 1.5-litre capacity – the equivalent of two traditional champagne bottles – serves between 12 and 14 flutes. In this regard, the champagne magnum has honed its reputation over the years as a symbol of sharing and a cornerstone of French gastronomy and the House’s philosophy since it was established in 1827.

MUMM CHAMPAGNE MAGNUMS – NEW DISCOVERIES AND TASTING EXPERIENCES

Committed to offering unique tasting experiences that appeal to the senses to seasoned champagne connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike, Mumm cuvées are available in magnum format, including Mumm Cordon Rouge and Mumm Le Rosé. This prestigious format highlights the exceptional character of Mumm Millésime 2008 and Millésime 2012, which are guaranteed to please the finest of palates.

SHOWCASING MUMM FINE WINES

The champagne magnum boasts remarkable oenological properties. While champagnes generally tend to develop more freely in larger formats, the most generous formats such as the magnum, jeroboam and methuselah are particularly well-suited to outstanding wines. The magnum’s large size favours the development of aromas and therefore fully expresses their finesse and distinctive characteristics.

MUMM CHAMPAGNE MAGNUM: THE BIRTHPLACE OF UNIQUE FLAVOURS

The development of a champagne’s organoleptic properties is determined in particular by the exchange of oxygen between the wine and the surrounding atmosphere. The cork used to seal magnum bottles is the same size as traditional bottles but intended for a larger volume. This helps reduce oxidation, conducive to slow ripening and good aromatic complexity.

PRESERVING THE BALANCE OF MUMM WINES

Reserved exclusively for exceptional cuvées, the Mumm Millésimé, Mumm Cordon Rouge and Mumm Le Rosé champagne magnums are ideal for grand occasions. As a result, they must be stored in optimal conditions to fully reveal all their subtle characteristics when tasted. Their size makes the bottle less sensitive to temperature variations and therefore helps protect delicate, refined wines from thermal shocks, which could alter their aromas and flavours over time.

These qualities make the magnum a favourite among chefs and the finest restaurants in France and worldwide, offering the most exquisite food and champagne pairings.

Enhancing the finesse, authenticity and aromas intrinsic to Mumm champagnes, the magnum proudly showcases the House’s fine wines and offers unforgettable tasting experiences to beginners and connoisseurs alike.
